The Election Commission has announced the election dates for both Maharashtra and Jharkhand. In Maharashtra, there are a total of 96.3 million voters, and polling will take place at 118,600 centers. The entire voting process will be video recorded.
Special Provisions for Senior Citizens
Senior citizens aged 85 and above will have the option to vote from home. They will need to fill out a form from the Election Commission for this facility.
Political Alliances
In Maharashtra, the Mahayuti will consist of BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar from the NCP on one side, while the Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP will be on the other side.
Voter Facilitation App
The Election Commission has launched an app called “Sewa Portal.” Voters can file complaints through this app. If any incident occurs or if voting is delayed, voters can simply take a photo and upload it to the app, and the Election Commission’s team will reach the location within 90 minutes.
Restrictions on Cash Transportation
During the election period, vehicles transporting cash to ATMs will not be allowed to operate from 6 PM to 8 AM. There will be strict monitoring of the transportation of cash, drugs, and alcohol in the state. Ambulances, banks, and financial institutions will also be under scrutiny during this time. Polling agents will receive a copy of the voting data once the voting concludes. Strict actions will be taken against the spread of fake news on social media.
